Linen Stitch Placemats: Crochet pattern

Linen stitch is a simple but beautiful basic crochet stitch. Here I have you using this stitch in the round to create a perfect, flat oval, to which various border options are then added. I find this pattern works best with worsted weight cotton. There are many of these to choose from, including Dishie, Bernat Handicrafter or Sugar & Cream (Lilly).
