Simple Braided Hat: Knitting Pattern

This is a simple pattern for a soft, stretchy winter hat / tuque. Two full sets of instructions are given, for 2 different yarns. Amelie by Illimani is my favourite luxury hat yarn - ultra-soft and light as air, with beautiful stitch definition and a fuzzy halo. Cascades 220 is a solid, easy-to-find sport-weight merino wool, soft enough to wear on the head and with added benefit of being machine washable. These hats were designed for women, but gauge is given which should allow you to modify the size. The pattern contains a link to a video on my Youtube channel that demonstrates the two types of cables you need to work, as well as my favourite cast-on method. These are suitable for beginners, and can be worked up in a few hours - the perfect handmade gift.
